- **May 11, 2026 — China ordinary passports: VIVIS visa exemption** (Visa-free)
  MRE's current Zurich consular guidance says Chinese ordinary passport holders have been exempt from VIVIS since 11 May 2026 for the specified short-visit purposes.
  - The MRE guidance limits the exemption to multiple-entry tourism, business, transit, artistic, or sports visits, for at most 30 days in one year.
  - Longer stays and other purposes require the appropriate physical visa under the MRE guidance.
  - This applies to an ordinary Chinese passport; it does not establish treatment of a PRC Travel Document, Hong Kong SAR passport, Macao SAR passport, Taiwan passport, diplomatic passport, official passport, or another special document.
  - The consular page's country-specific online filing note does not establish a nationality-wide eVisa category for this normalized visitor classification.
