## Evidence timeline

- **Current official route — Document-qualified visa-waiver passports require an NZeTA** (ETA)
  These nationality codes qualify only with the citizenship, residence, passport-issue, or British-status condition stated by New Zealand.
  - Greece requires a passport issued on or after 1 January 2006; Portugal requires permanent right to live in Portugal.
  - Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan require the stated residence and SAR or Taiwan passport conditions.
  - The United Kingdom class requires qualifying British status and permanent right to reside in the United Kingdom; stays may be up to six months.
  - Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania apply to citizens, and all classes require an NZeTA before travel.

1. Confirm the nationality-specific residence, status, or passport-issue condition.
2. Request an NZeTA using the qualifying passport before travel.
3. Carry any evidence of residence or status that the published condition requires.
