  Macao's current passport authority directly maps the ordinary Macao SAR Passport to El Salvador's online application route. Salvadoran Immigration requires a favourable PEI decision before travel and treats the resulting passport-stamped permit as equivalent to an entry visa, so it remains an advance visa route.
  - Applies to the ordinary Macao SAR Passport short-visitor route expressly mapped by DSI to El Salvador's PEI service.
  - Complete the PEI application and receive a favourable result before travel; the approved product is equivalent to an entry visa and is not a walk-up visa on arrival, ETA or electronically issued visa.
  - DGME stamps the approved Special Entry Permit in the passport on entry through an air, sea, or land border. Purpose, stay, supporting documents, final admission, residence, work, diplomatic, official, service, and special-document routes are outside scope.

1. Register and submit the Special Entry Permit application through the official PEI service before travel.
2. Wait for the approval notification before travelling to El Salvador.
3. Present for entry so that DGME stamps the Special Entry Permit in the passport.
