## Evidence timeline

- **Current official route — Named foreign ordinary passports: electronic visitor visa available before travel** (eVisa)
The MFA's current schedule requires these nationalities to hold a visa, and Moldova's official eVisa portal says all foreigners may request a PDF eVisa for eligible transit or short-stay purposes. This is a genuine electronic-issuance route, not merely online filing.
  - The official portal says the eVisa is issued in PDF form and has the same entry right as a sticker visa. Only transit B and short-stay C visas can be obtained online; airport-transit A and long-stay D require a diplomatic mission or consular office.
  - The portal says all foreigners may request eVisa for listed purposes including business, tourism, visits, mission, sports, transport, culture, humanitarian and scientific activities. It does not establish work, study/residence, airport-transit, diplomatic, service, emergency, refugee or other special-document access.
  - On 21 August 2026, normal TLS verification of the official portal failed because its server omitted a trusted issuer chain. This transport defect is an operational warning, not evidence that electronic issuance ended; users must not bypass browser certificate warnings.
  - MFA's required-visa list makes a separate invitation procedure applicable to named nationalities and retains exceptions from that procedure. Its [2] nationalities can instead travel while holding a valid non-transit EU/Schengen, UK, US or Canadian visa or residence permit; that document-conditioned alternative does not change this nationality baseline.
  - For Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Turkmenistan and Vietnam, MFA footnote [1] preserves treaty-based diplomatic, service and special-passport exceptions; those documents are outside this ordinary-passport policy.
  - Foreign entrants remain subject to accepted-document, purpose, means, onward-travel, refusal, security, public-health, passport-validity and final border-admission requirements.
