- **April 16, 2025 — Recognized Uruguayan ordinary passports are visa-exempt** (Visa-free)
  Japan's exemption covers the recognized older Uruguayan passport version but not the newer version omitting place of birth.
  - The newer ordinary passport version omitting place of birth is not recognized for travel to Japan.
  - An older-version passport remains eligible even when issued after 16 April 2025.
  - The normal landing-permission period is 90 days.
