Allowed stay under the reviewed ruleUp to 30 days in any 180-day periodArticle 1's visitor-stay limit is distinct from the six-month duration of the temporary policy and from passport validity. The Act and the prefecture's opening paragraph say not exceeding 30 days. Later shorthand on the prefecture page says less than 30; the explicit statutory inclusive limit controls.Subject to the official conditions below; not a guarantee of admission or an extension.

How this access rule is documented

  1. – Visa-free

Brazilian ordinary passports: temporary French Guiana visitor waiver

A July 2026 autonomous order grants Brazilian ordinary-passport holders visa-free French Guiana short visits for up to 30 days in any 180-day period. The prefecture identifies the six-month trial as running from 31 July 2026 until 31 January 2027, subject to ordinary admission requirements and excluding commercial activity.

    • Scope is Brazilian ordinary passports for non-commercial short visitor travel to French Guiana only. It is not permission to work, reside, study or conduct commercial activity, and does not establish entry to another French territory.
    • Article 2 literally provides six months from 31 July 2026. The prefecture expressly states until 31 January 2027; that named endpoint supplies the inclusive effectiveTo, not a conversion of months into days. Renewal is possible but not established or assumed.
    • The initial order's notice and operative Article 2 name 31 July 2026, while the consolidated site's article-version metadata starts on 2 August 2026 after JORF publication on 1 August. The candidate preserves the expressly stated operational start; this metadata distinction is not concealed.
    • The prefecture requires a passport valid at least three months after the intended return to Brazil, issued less than ten years ago and containing at least two blank pages. It also requires medical-insurance evidence covering the whole stay for at least EUR 30,000, financial guarantees according to accommodation, and yellow-fever vaccination evidence.
    • Land entrants from Brazil and river arrivals at Saint-Georges must report to the border-police checkpoint at the international bridge. The waiver does not guarantee admission or remove border checks.
    • The new ordinary-passport waiver does not impose a biometric-passport, Amapá-residence, organised-tour, frontier-card or third-country-visa prerequisite. The old Annex II's narrower exceptions are not conditions of this temporary general visitor waiver.
    • For historical reconciliation, Annex II separately describes registered-agency trips shorter than fifteen days, specified air stopovers no longer than three days with onward tickets, a local 72-hour frontier-card route for eligible Oiapoque residents, and emergency-team missions. These special routes do not justify a permanent nationality-wide exemption or an automatic post-trial prior-visa conclusion.
    • France-Visas separately describes qualifying residence-permit and long-stay-visa exemptions; a generic Schengen short-stay visa is not itself permission to enter an overseas territory. Those document-based routes are not prerequisites for this Brazilian trial waiver. Recheck the operative regime before the trial ends; no successor or post-expiry status is asserted.
  2. Through Visa required

Other French Guiana ordinary passports: advance territory visa required (historical: BR)

The current DROM order requires a valid territory-specific visa unless an Annex II nationality exemption applies. This covers the ordinary-passport baseline after direct waivers and genuinely unresolved biometric rows are removed.

    • A valid visa must cover French Guiana; a Schengen visa alone does not authorize the territory. France-Visas' online workflow is application filing, not eVisa issuance.
    • French multi-entry-visa, residence-permit, long-stay visa, cruise, transit, crew, special/diplomatic/service passport and individual-admission exceptions remain conditional and do not change this ordinary-passport baseline.
    • Georgia's former Annex II exemption was removed effective June 2025. Vanuatu's waiver is restricted to pre-25-May-2015 ordinary passports, so it cannot establish a current unqualified ordinary-passport exemption.
    • Brazil's listed French Guiana exceptions are organized/brief/transit/frontier/emergency routes rather than a nationality-wide visitor waiver.
