Canada and United States ordinary passports: online approval followed by arrival issuance

The live PAF selector places Canada and the United States in a separate visitor panel but uses the same online approval and arrival-issuance procedure. It is normalized as eta for the same reason as the normal PAF cohort.

    • The selector's separate panel labels this route as not exceeding five years, but does not state whether that is visa validity or permitted visitor stay; no short-stay ceiling is asserted here.
    • The PAF procedure still requires the approved Entry Visa Letter before travel and directs the traveller to the visa-on-arrival counter for issuance and biometrics. Passport validity, funds, onward ticket, accommodation, health, security and admission requirements remain applicable.
    • This policy does not establish work, residence, business-only, transit, crew, diplomatic, official, service or special-document treatment.

How to apply

  1. Select the travel-document issuing authority and the visitor category in the official PAF service.
  2. Complete the online application and wait for the approved Entry Visa Letter before travel.
  3. Present that letter at the visa-on-arrival counter, where the PAF procedure says the visa is issued after photograph and fingerprints.
