    Canadian ordinary passports: conditional Turkmenistan visa on arrival

    A Canadian ordinary-passport visitor with the required State Migration Service-certified invitation may obtain a visa on arrival at Ashgabat International Airport.

    • Global Affairs Canada's current Regular Canadian passport section says a tourist visa and invitation letter are required; the inviting person, company or authorized tourist agency must submit the invitation request to the State Migration Service.
    • The current Turkmen embassy service says a traveller may obtain the visa on arrival at Ashgabat International Airport by presenting a valid passport and an original or copy of a valid State Migration Service-certified invitation.
    • A tourist must arrange the certified invitation through a tourist agency. The embassy page expressly addresses legal residents of Canada alongside the United States and Mexico.
    • The arrival route is airport-specific and conditional on advance invitation approval. Passport validity, fees, registration, restricted areas, carrier checks and final admission remain separate.

How to apply

  1. Arrange a tourist agency or other eligible inviter and obtain a letter of invitation certified by the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan.
  2. Travel through Ashgabat International Airport with the valid passport and the original or a copy of the valid certified invitation.
  3. Present those documents and pay the applicable fee for physical visa issuance on arrival; approval and final admission remain with the authorities.
