How this access rule is documented

  1. Current official routeVisa required

All other ordinary passports: Algeria advance consular visitor visa

The MFA schedule expressly answers that all non-Algerians require a visa except its closed named exemption list. Combined with the central MFA instruction to obtain that visa before travel from a diplomatic or consular post, this establishes the remaining ordinary-passport complement as visa_required, not evisa or visa_on_arrival.

    • This is the central MFA's advance diplomatic-or-consular process. Downloadable application forms are not electronic visa issuance, and no current official source reviewed here establishes an ordinary-passport visa-on-arrival or eVisa alternative for this cohort.
    • The central MFA guidance requires a passport valid at least six months, travel-assistance/repatriation insurance, photos and the purpose-specific documents; tourist applicants need legalized accommodation, hotel booking or a travel-agency attestation. The competent mission is normally the applicant's place of habitual residence.
    • The law sets a maximum consular-visa validity of two years and a maximum stay of 90 days per entry; actual type, duration, entries, fee, grant, extension and admission remain visa- and case-specific. It also requires sufficient means and permits refusal on public-order, State-security or fundamental-interest grounds.
    • The official Great South measure offers an arrival regularisation visa only to foreign tourist groups travelling through an organized tourism framework, with a stay no longer than 30 days. Its route, agency and case conditions do not establish nationality-wide visa-on-arrival access.
    • Do not apply this passport-nationality baseline to holders of diplomatic, official, service, crew, UN or other special documents, to residents or workers, to family and other purpose-specific visas, to transit or border regularisation, or to an Algerian national travelling with a foreign passport and separate Algerian biometric passport or identity document. Those are conditional/document cases, not an ordinary foreign-passport nationality route.

How to apply

The central guidance gives a 48-hour issuance statement only for organized tourists after the complete file reaches the competent mission; it does not promise a general processing time.

  1. Download and complete the visa form in duplicate, then gather the passport, photographs, travel insurance and purpose-specific supporting documents.
  2. Submit the application to the Algerian Embassy or Consulate responsible for the applicant's usual residence, with the required consular fee.
  3. Obtain the visa before travel and present the travel document and visa for border examination; a visa does not remove admissibility and security controls.
