    Bhutan: Indian ordinary passports with entry permit at the port of entry

    Bhutan's Department of Immigration expressly makes Indian nationals eligible for an entry permit at the port of entry. This arrival-issued authorization is normalized as visa on arrival, not visa-free admission.

    • This is an entry permit issued at the port of entry, not a visa-free finding. The portal says an original passport or Voter Identity Card is required; the latter document route is outside this ordinary-passport policy.
    • The official tourism page says the permit may instead be applied for before travel, including through a tour operator or hotel; online processing alone is not classified as eVisa.
    • Tourist stay is stated as a maximum of 90 days. The portal states an Indian visitor SDF of INR 1,200 per night; special child, day-visitor, border-town, extension, admissibility and other-purpose rules remain applicable.
    • Does not decide work, residence, study, transit, crew, border-pass, diplomatic, official, service, special-document or case-specific admission rules.

    Bhutan: Bangladeshi and Maldivian ordinary passports with visa on arrival

    The Department of Immigration expressly names Bangladesh and the Maldives as eligible for visas on arrival.

    • The Tourism authority says these visitors require a visa, but use the Indian permit-process workflow; that workflow does not convert their express arrival-issued visa into visa-free admission.
    • Tourist stay is stated as a maximum of 90 days. A Sustainable Development Fee applies; the tourism authority states USD 100 per adult per day, while the immigration FAQ describes the underlying USD 200 rate and its USD 100 incentive through 31 August 2027.
    • The authority retains admission discretion at the port of entry. Passport validity, fee, SDF, extension, funds, tour, health, security and individual-admissibility requirements remain applicable.
    • Does not decide SAARC Visa Exemption Sticker holders, or diplomatic, official, service, residence, work, study, transit, crew, special-document or case-specific rules.

    Bhutan: all other foreign ordinary passports requiring eVisa before entry

    The Department of Immigration's exhaustive entry page says all other foreign nationals must obtain an eVisa before entering Bhutan. The eVisa classification rests on that explicit term, not merely on the availability of an online application.

    • The official portal says applications must be submitted at least 15 days before intended arrival; the tourism authority describes review within five working days after submission, so travellers should follow the stricter stated lead time.
    • Tourist stay is stated as a maximum of 90 days. The visa application fee is USD 40 and the current tourism page states a USD 100-per-day adult SDF; the portal describes a USD 200 base rate with a USD 100 incentive through 31 August 2027.
    • A valid SAARC Visa Exemption Sticker is a special-document exception to prior eVisa/entry-permit clearance; it is not an ordinary-passport nationality-wide exemption.
    • Thailand and Switzerland visa-on-arrival treatment on the entry page is expressly limited to diplomatic or official passports, not these ordinary-passport policies.
