    Named ordinary passports: Lesotho visa-free short visit

    Lesotho’s current Embassy table expressly marks these named passport nationalities “NO” for a visa. They therefore have a visa-free ordinary short-visitor route, subject to ordinary entry controls.

    • Applies only to the named foreign nationalities holding ordinary passports for the normal short-visitor baseline; the table does not state a stay duration for this non-asterisk cohort.
    • The table’s special passport fee rows and the separately described diplomatic, official/service, UN, laissez-passer, residence, work, business, transit, crew and special-document processes are not normalized into this policy.
    • Passport validity, any South African transit or re-entry document required by the journey, health requirements, funds, accommodation, onward travel, border inspection, security and individual admissibility remain applicable.

    Named ordinary passports: Lesotho visa-free visit up to 14 days

    Lesotho’s current Embassy table marks these asterisked nationalities “NO” for a visa and explains that the asterisk requires a visa only for a stay exceeding 14 days.

    • Applies only to the named foreign ordinary passports for a visitor stay of no more than 14 days. The Embassy’s asterisk expressly requires a visa for a longer stay.
    • This is not evidence of residence, employment, study, business, transit, crew, diplomatic, official/service or special-document entry rights.
    • Passport validity, journey-specific South African transit or re-entry documentation, health, funds, accommodation, onward travel, border inspection, security and individual admissibility remain applicable.

    Other foreign ordinary passports: advance Lesotho visitor visa

    The Embassy’s incoming table marks its listed remaining nationalities “YES” (visa always required), while Home Affairs supplies the explicit every-foreign-citizen visa default outside abolition and Commonwealth exemptions. The live eVisa service is suspended, so the current process is an advance email/manual visa workflow, not a nationality-wide eVisa or a walk-up arrival visa.

    • The Embassy states that applications are handled manually at Home Affairs or by email. Its published process says an approved applicant is sent a 72-hour “visa-on-arrival letter”; this pre-approval/entry letter does not establish a walk-up visa-on-arrival entitlement.
    • For current catalog issuers not printed as a distinct row in the Embassy’s legacy-named table, this policy relies on Home Affairs’ explicit rule that every foreign-country citizen needs a visa except the named abolition/Commonwealth exemptions; it is not inferred from table omission.
    • The Embassy says processing can take up to ten working days and limits entry under that letter to Maseru Port of Entry or Moshoeshoe I International Airport.
    • The Government service charter lists tourist application, itinerary, passport, accommodation, financial, medical-insurance and medical-report requirements; the Embassy additionally lists journey-specific South African transit or re-entry visa requirements for Bangladesh and Pakistan.
    • The Ministry’s current pages conflict: one retains eVisa-first wording, but its live eVisa service page expressly says the system is suspended. The current Embassy page describes manual/email processing, so email submission or an arrival letter is not normalized as eVisa. Residence, work, study, business, transit, crew, diplomatic, official/service, UN, laissez-passer and other special-document arrangements are excluded.
    • Every admission remains subject to fees, passport validity, health, funds, accommodation, onward travel, border inspection, security and individual admissibility.
