    Kosovo biometric ordinary passports became visa-exempt

    Annex II exempts Kosovo biometric passports for covered short stays from 1 January 2024.

    • The passport must be biometric and meet ICAO standards.
    • The exemption applies for stays of no more than 90 days in any 180-day period.

    Norwegian statutory Annex 5 visa-free-state list

    Annex 5 expressly lists the named states as visa-free for entry to Norway.

    • Applies only to nationals on the current statutory visa-free-state list, whose stated reference date is 14 August 2025.
    • The Immigration Act limits the total Schengen stay for visa-exempt entrants to three months in six months.
    • Does not classify diplomatic, service, official, special, crew, transit, residence, asylum, work, document, or case-specific exceptions.

    Norwegian statutory Nauru visa requirement

    Nauru is absent from the complete statutory visa-free-state list, while the Immigration Act imposes a visa requirement unless regulations except it.

    • The Act separately exempts holders of qualifying Schengen residence permits and recognizes valid Schengen visas.

    Kosovo biometric ordinary passports: Norway and Switzerland short-stay visa-free entry

    The competent Norwegian and Swiss immigration authorities expressly record a no-visa short-visit route for Kosovo biometric passport holders.

    • NO: UDI says Kosovo citizens with biometric passports need no visa for a visit up to 90 days. CH: SEM's current nationality register records no visa required for Kosovo for stays of up to 90 days, subject to its V12 document condition.
    • This excludes gainful employment, residence, special documents, destination-specific document recognition, carrier checks and final admission.

    Regulation (EU) 2018/1806 exempts Hong Kong SAR passport holders from short-stay visa requirements across the covered EU and Schengen destinations.

    • Only holders of a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passport are covered.
    • Stays may not exceed 90 days in any 180-day period.
    • Ireland applies its own visa policy and is not covered by this policy.
    • Cyprus is covered through the EU regulation but is not yet part of the border-control-free Schengen area.
