Official evidence timeline

One group agreement or destination policy can support many passport relationships. Dates are recorded only when an official source establishes them.

  1. Current official routeVisa-free

Maldives and Nepal ordinary passports: visa-free entry

DGIP's current visa-abolition schedule identifies Maldives and Nepal as the only two all-national ordinary-passport visitor exemptions.

    • The current DGIP schedule gives Maldives nationals three months and Nepal nationals one month without a visa; an extension is required after the stated period.
    • This records ordinary visitor passports only. It does not establish work, residence, overseas-Pakistani origin, diplomatic/official/special document, transit, security, or individual-admissibility treatment.

    Maldives, Nepal

  2. Current official routeVisa on arrival

Qatar ordinary passports: direct visa on arrival

DGIP grants all Qatari passport holders, including ordinary passports, visa on arrival without the ETA requirement that applies to the other listed tourist-VOA nationalities.

    • The current DGIP page says the route is available at any port of entry, free of charge, for 30 days and extendable another 30 days, with single or multiple entries.
    • Requires a passport valid for at least six months, a confirmed return ticket, and cash equivalent to USD 1,500 or a valid credit card.
    • It does not establish work, residence, Indian-origin religious tourism, group-tour, diplomatic/official/special-document, security or individual-admissibility treatment.

  3. Current official routeETA

Listed ordinary passports: tourist Visa Prior to Arrival / ETA

For these named tourist nationalities, Pakistan labels the visa as visa on arrival but requires electronic travel authorization 48-72 hours before travel. This candidate normalizes that required advance authorization as ETA rather than a true walk-up VOA.

    • The DGIP list names 50 tourist-VOA nationalities; Nepal and Maldives use the easier visa-free route and Qatar has the direct no-ETA VOA route recorded separately.
    • Submit the ETA/VPA intent 48-72 hours before travel. The arrival-issued tourist visa is up to three months under the category page.
    • A 2025 MFA release says the mobile-app VPA category serves eligible nationals of 120 countries but does not name them. It cannot safely expand or replace DGIP's named 50-country table.
    • Requires the category's passport, photograph, and sponsor invitation or hotel-booking evidence. It does not establish business-only VOA, Indian-origin religious tourism, designated-tour-operator groups, residence, work, special documents, security or individual admission.

  4. Current official routeeVisa

    Listed ordinary passports: tourist eVisa

DGIP's live 175-country eVisa schedule establishes the online tourist-visa route for these passports; easier visa-free, named VPA/ETA, and direct-VOA routes above take precedence.

    • The official page says applicants from 175 countries can apply for eVisa and that the route is augmented with ETA; use the official online visa system before travel.
    • The newer MFA mobile-app release reports an unnamed 120-country VPA cohort. Because it supplies no country list, it does not safely prove an easier VPA route for any particular eVisa-only passport.
    • For tourist/visit travel, DGIP requires the ordinary passport, photograph, and a sponsor invitation or hotel booking. The listed standard tourist visa is up to three months with double entry and can be extended subject to the stated limits.
    • The policy does not establish business-only routes, overseas-Pakistani origin or family arrangements, work, residence, transit, group tourism, diplomatic/official/special documents, prohibited areas, security or individual-admissibility rights.

List-A-only ordinary passports: advance tourist visa

Pakistan's current List-A schedule authorizes missions to grant these ordinary-passport holders a standard tourist visa, while they are not in the current 175-country eVisa schedule or a more favorable ordinary visitor route.

    • DGIP authorizes missions to grant List-A foreigners a visit/tourist visa with three months' validity and stay and double entry; use the online visa process as directed by MFA.
    • This policy records the ordinary tourist advance-visa baseline only. It does not establish a business, work, residence, transit, group-tour, diplomatic/official/special-document, security or individual-admissibility outcome.

Algeria, Bhutan, Iraq, North Korea, Libya, Mauritania, Palestinian Territory, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Nigeria, Congo (Dem. Rep.), Chad, eSwatini

Indian ordinary passports: Pakistan advance tourist visa

Pakistan's live DGIP Indian-national page requires a valid visa and says the short tourist visa is issued by the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi before travel.

    • Applies to an ordinary Indian passport holder undertaking a short tourist visit; the published tourist visa is non-extendable and valid for 14 days.
    • The tourist visa is issued in advance by the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi through approved tour operators or travel agents.
    • The page requires a valid passport and application; visitor, business, transit, Indian-origin, residence, work, religious-tourism, diplomatic/official documents, border-route, police-reporting, security and final-admission arrangements are outside this baseline.

Macao SAR ordinary passports: Pakistan electronic visitor visa

Macao's current passport-specific DSI record maps Pakistan to eVisa. Pakistan's current immigration authority confirms applicants apply online from their home country and receive electronic authorization to travel before arrival.

    • Applies only to the ordinary Macao SAR Passport selected in DSI's live Travel Convenience Privilege service.
    • Apply online from the home country and receive electronic authorization before travel; show it to immigration for passport stamping on arrival.
    • The policy does not establish business, work, residence, pilgrimage, diplomatic, official, service, group-tour, special-document or final-admission treatment.
