Covered EU ordinary passports gained United Arab Emirates short-stay access

The reciprocal EU–United Arab Emirates agreement is provisionally applied from 2015-05-06; no final entry-into-force notice was located in this review.

    • The waiver is limited to valid ordinary passports and short stays of no more than 90 days in any 180-day period.
    • Paid activity is excluded, and ordinary entry conditions and refusal powers continue to apply.
    • Ireland is outside the agreement.

    United Arab Emirates citizenship

    GCC citizens: visa-free entry

UAE Government guidance expressly says GCC citizens do not need a visa to enter the UAE.

    • The traveller must produce a GCC-country passport or national ID card at entry. This is a citizen rule, not a GCC-resident rule.
    • The separate GCC-resident electronic visa applies to qualifying residents and companions and does not alter this GCC-citizen exemption.
    • The reviewed sources do not establish work, residence, transit requiring entry, diplomatic, official, service, emergency, refugee, or other special-document treatment.

MOFA schedule: named visa-free ordinary passport entries

The current MOFA non-citizen schedule marks these named nationality entries Visa Free.

    • This maps the schedule country/passport entries only. It does not establish a common duration, entry count, extension, employment right, residence right, or special-document rule.
    • UAE Government guidance says passports must be valid for at least six months from entry and that arrival eligibility may change; admission remains subject to border and security decisions.
    • Hong Kong is limited to the schedule named Hong Kong SAR entry; it does not establish PRC, Macao, Taiwan, travel-document, British National (Overseas), or another special passport treatment. Kosovo and Vatican likewise represent only their named ordinary-country entries.
    • Do not re-label an optional sponsor, airline, hotel, agency, residence-conditioned, transit, or other purpose-specific route as the nationality-wide default.

MOFA named ordinary passports: advance electronic tourist visa

MOFA marks these nationalities Visa Required rather than Visa Free. The UAE’s all-nationalities self-sponsored five-year tourist visa is applied for and issued electronically, so the nationality-wide least-onerous advance route is normalized as evisa.

    • MOFA's Visa Required label establishes that no visa-free nationality default applies. UAE Government guidance makes a self-sponsored five-year tourist visa available to all nationalities, and ICP states that the visa is received by email and downloadable electronically; this supports evisa, not visa_on_arrival or traditional visa_required, under the project taxonomy.
    • The five-year route has material eligibility conditions, including the stated funds, UAE-valid health insurance and onward/return ticket. Approval and border admission remain discretionary; it does not establish a no-document or no-fee route.
    • The ICP 25 June 2026 announcement creates a separate residence-conditioned 14- or 60-day entry-visa option for India, Indonesia, Viet Nam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya, and South Africa. It does not replace the nationality-wide electronic tourist-visa route.
    • For that conditional route, the qualifying residence permit must be from the US, an EU Member State, UK, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand or Canada; accompanying family members must meet the stated nationality and relationship conditions.
    • No conclusion is drawn about residence, work, study, transit, diplomatic, official, service, emergency, refugee, stateless, travel-document, or other special-document routes.

Taiwan ordinary passports: UAE advance tourist visa

The UAE Embassy's current Taiwan record marks Regular passports Visa Required; its non-exempt visitor instructions require obtaining the tourist-visa copy before travel.

    • Applies only to the UAE Embassy's Taiwan Regular-passport category and an ordinary short tourist visit.
    • A visa on arrival is restricted to exempt nationalities with the appropriate passport type; Taiwan Regular is marked Visa Required.
    • For a tourist visit, the Embassy says UAE visa agents or hotels process the visa and that the traveller must receive a copy before travel.
    • This does not establish an eVisa, airline transit visa, GCC-resident route, work, residence, diplomatic, official, service, special-document, or final-admission rule.
