India: ordinary passports eligible for eVisa

The Bureau of Immigration's live eVisa portal lists these passport nationalities as eVisa-eligible; Japan and South Korea are kept in the easier visa-on-arrival policy.

    • Apply online, pay the eVisa fee, receive a granted ETA by email, print it, and present it at an eVisa-designated immigration check post.
    • For e-Tourist/e-Business applications, the portal says to apply at least four days before travel; an approved ETA is required before travelling.
    • Passport must generally have at least six months' validity; traveller needs onward/return travel and sufficient funds. Biometrics are captured on arrival.
    • eVisa is not available to diplomatic/official passports, laissez-passer or other non-passport travel documents, or persons endorsed on another person's passport.
    • Pakistani-passport holders or persons of Pakistani origin must apply for a regular visa at an Indian mission; this overrides nationality-list eligibility where applicable.
    • eVisa is non-extendable/non-convertible and not valid for protected, restricted, or cantonment areas without prior permission. It does not decide work, residence, transit outside the chosen eVisa category, crew, security, or admissibility.
