How this access rule is documented

  1. eVisa

Named ordinary passports: transitory visitor eVisa required before travel

Effective 1 September 2025, Ecuador's foreign ministry expressly requires the named nationalities to obtain the electronically issued Visa de Visitante Temporal de Transeúnte before entering Ecuador.

    • The announcement calls this authorization a Visa de Visitante Temporal de Transeúnte under the 2025 reform to Article 66 of the Organic Law on Human Mobility. It must be requested while the applicant is outside Ecuador through the ministry's official digital service.
    • The Foreign Ministry describes the eVISAS service as electronic visas processed 100% online. Its current guide says the approved electronic visa is sent by email for the traveller to download and present, so this is normalized as eVisa rather than a non-electronic advance visa, ETA, or visa on arrival.
    • The foreign ministry's visitor regulation separately provides that a tourist may not perform work or economic activity. Passport validity, visa validity, purpose, route, residence, transit, diplomatic or official document, security, prior immigration history, and border-admission requirements remain separate and are not established by this nationality rule.

How to apply

  1. Apply for the transitory temporary visitor visa from outside Ecuador through the ministry's digital service.
  2. Provide the documents and pay the amounts required for the individual application.
  3. Download the eVisa delivered by email and present it with all required documents to migration control; issuance does not itself establish admission.
