How this access rule is documented

  1. Current official routeVisa on arrival

Other foreign ordinary passports: Burundi simple entry visa at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport

Burundi Tourism’s current visitor guidance expressly requires a visa for every foreigner other than EAC citizens. The directly competent CGM says its simple entry visa for a foreign citizen is obtained online, at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport or at embassies. Because the same nationality-wide route is available at the airport, it is normalized as visa_on_arrival; the online application is an alternative channel, not a mandatory eVisa.

    • The simple entry visa allows a foreign citizen one entry and a one-month stay. Its airport route is expressly limited to Melchior Ndadaye International Airport; it does not establish visa issuance at every land or other air border.
    • The CGM portal also offers online application and embassy processing. Those alternative channels do not replace the explicitly available airport-issued route in the easiest-access taxonomy, and the portal’s online certificate/application process is not normalized as an eVisa.
    • The CGM airport form requests identity, ordinary travel-document, arrival, accommodation, contact and supporting information. Visa issuance and admission remain subject to purpose, documentation, health, security and border discretion.
    • The policy excludes Burundi citizenship, the seven foreign EAC citizen exemptions, work, study, establishment, permanent residence, transit, crew, diplomatic, official, service, refugee and special-document routes. CGM separately displays free CEPGL and EAC entry-visa administrative categories; the latter does not change the EAC exemption, while no current membership-and-entry instrument is used to give Congo a different nationality status from its otherwise supported airport route.
    • Burundi Tourism lists a 70 USD per-month entry-visa charge, while CGM presents different fees for other entry categories and does not display an airport-form price. No fee is normalized; the direct airport issuance channel, not a price, is the basis for visa_on_arrival.
