    The Immigration Department explicitly says countries not in its visa-exempt lists require a visa, and its eVisa Unit processes online applications for every person who requires one. The nationality complement is therefore normalized as evisa.

    • Apply electronically through the Immigration Department's entry-eVisa route. The eVisa is an official entry document, obtained after the Department decides the online application and paid electronically; it is not an ETA.
    • The eVisa FAQ says the route is for a travel-document holder requiring a visa and that a traveller who arrives without a visa is undocumented and may be refused entry. The baseline status is therefore not visa_on_arrival.
    • A separate, conditional 30-day tourist visa on arrival may be granted to a visitor who holds a valid US, Canadian, UK or Schengen visa or permanent-resident card, has no Antigua and Barbuda residence/occupation, travels solely for tourism/casual visits, and has a passport valid at least six months. This document-based exception does not change the nationality baseline.
    • The eVisa application requires a passport/travel document valid at least six months, photo, journey evidence, accommodation or sponsor evidence, funds and other requested documents. It is for tourism; work, residence, student, transit, cruise, diplomatic, official, special-document and admission cases remain separate.
    • A normally visa-required cruise visitor arriving in the morning and departing that evening, or a same-day in-transit passenger remaining in the airport's controlled space with onward proof, has a narrow special exception not represented by this ordinary visitor policy.

How to apply

The Immigration Department FAQ states a decision within seven working days, potentially extended to 15 days or, exceptionally, 30 days.

  1. Apply through the Immigration Department entry-eVisa route before travel.
  2. Upload the required passport, photo, trip, accommodation/sponsor and financial evidence, then pay electronically.
  3. Carry the approved eVisa and supporting travel documents to border control; the Department may still refuse admission.
