ECOWAS and continuing AES ordinary passports: visa-free entry to Liberia
Liberia’s National Tourism Authority says ECOWAS citizens may enter without a visa. The ECOWAS withdrawal arrangement continues visa-free movement for Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger citizens, extending the supported foreign cohort to all 14 former/continuing ECOWAS issuers.
- Applies only to the named foreign ordinary passports for the normal short-visitor baseline.
- The AES-transition treatment for Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger is expressly pending full future-relation modalities; ECOWAS calls it effective until further notice.
- Passport validity (the tourism authority advises six months and a blank page), border inspection, health requirements, security controls and individual admissibility remain applicable.
- This policy does not establish residence, work, business-specific, transit, crew, diplomatic, official/service, refugee, laissez-passer, special-document or citizenship treatment.
