Colombia: electronic visitor visa unless conditional exemption is met
These ordinary-passport nationalities need Colombia's electronic Visitor visa unless they meet the official third-country residence or visa condition for short-stay exemption.
- Visa-free entry may be authorized with a valid residence permit from a Schengen state or the United States, or a Schengen or United States visa valid for at least 180 days at entry.
- Qualifying Nicaraguan natives of the North or South Caribbean Coast Autonomous Regions have an additional conditional short-stay exemption.
- Without the stated evidence, nationality alone does not establish visa-free admission, so the baseline remains electronic visa.
- The Foreign Ministry normally processes and issues the visa electronically, but may require a printed passport label when it considers that necessary.
- Short stays cover qualifying non-remunerated activities such as tourism, leisure, business, events or cultural interest; paid services, salary or wages in Colombia require a visa with the appropriate permission.
- The normal short-stay period is less than 90 days and may be extendable up to 180 days when the applicable rules permit it.
- Admission remains discretionary and subject to a valid travel document, onward travel, funds, purpose, immigration control and any health, security or individual-admissibility requirements.
- Does not classify transit, work, study, residence, diplomatic, official, service, refugee, stateless, emergency, laissez-passer, national-identity-card or other special-document routes.
