    • Paid activity is excluded; applicable EU, Member State, and Colombian rules continue to govern it.
    • The maximum stay is 90 days in any moving 180-day period.

    Colombia: citizenship treatment

A Colombian citizen returns under Colombian citizenship and national-document rules rather than the foreign visitor-visa framework.

    • Colombian citizens have the right to enter and must identify themselves as Colombian when they also hold another nationality.
    • Check-Mig is optional and recommended; it is not an ETA or entry authorization.
    • Does not determine dual-national documentation, passport validity, minors' exit consent or case-specific border circumstances.

  3. Current official routeVisa-free

Colombia: list A ordinary passports are visa-free for qualifying short stays

The current amended list A exempts these ordinary-passport nationalities from a visa for qualifying short non-remunerated visits.

    • Short stays cover qualifying non-remunerated activities such as tourism, leisure, business, events or cultural interest; paid services, salary or wages in Colombia require a visa with the appropriate permission.
    • The normal short-stay period is less than 90 days and may be extendable up to 180 days when the applicable rules permit it.
    • Admission remains discretionary and subject to a valid travel document, onward travel, funds, purpose, immigration control and any health, security or individual-admissibility requirements.
    • Does not classify transit, work, study, residence, diplomatic, official, service, refugee, stateless, emergency, laissez-passer, national-identity-card or other special-document routes.

    Colombia: HKSAR passport short-stay exemption

The current list B exempts a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passport from a visa for qualifying short non-remunerated visits.

    • Applies to the HKSAR passport entry in list B, not every document associated with Hong Kong or the People's Republic of China.

Colombia: electronic visitor visa unless conditional exemption is met

These ordinary-passport nationalities need Colombia's electronic Visitor visa unless they meet the official third-country residence or visa condition for short-stay exemption.

    • Visa-free entry may be authorized with a valid residence permit from a Schengen state or the United States, or a Schengen or United States visa valid for at least 180 days at entry.
    • Qualifying Nicaraguan natives of the North or South Caribbean Coast Autonomous Regions have an additional conditional short-stay exemption.
    • Without the stated evidence, nationality alone does not establish visa-free admission, so the baseline remains electronic visa.
    • The Foreign Ministry normally processes and issues the visa electronically, but may require a printed passport label when it considers that necessary.

Colombia: other ordinary passports require an electronic Visitor visa

Ordinary-passport nationalities outside the current unconditional and conditional short-stay exemptions must obtain Colombia's electronic Visitor visa before travel.

    • A separate visa-free exception may apply to a qualifying permanent resident of a Pacific Alliance or Andean Community state, or under a current bilateral agreement; nationality alone does not establish those status-based routes.
    • The Foreign Ministry conducts study, processing and issuance virtually and sends the approved electronic visa to the registered email address; it may require original documents, an interview or, when it considers necessary, a printed passport label.
