Official evidence timeline

One group agreement or destination policy can support many passport relationships. Dates are recorded only when an official source establishes them.

  1. Current official routeVisa-free

EU, EEA and Swiss ordinary passports: visa-free overseas short stays

French central guidance expressly exempts EU, EEA and Swiss citizens. This records foreign ordinary-passport catalog mappings only, not French citizenship.

    • Up to 90 days; each overseas territory remains outside Schengen and has its own visa order.
    • A Schengen visa alone does not authorize overseas entry.
    • Excludes residence, work, transit, long-stay, diplomatic, official/service and special-document routes.
    30 passport nationalities covered

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland

  2. Current official routeVisa-free

Colombian ordinary passports: five named territories visa-free

France-Visas names the five destinations in the Colombian exemption. French West Indies is excluded because it is an aggregate catalog label, not the page's territorial scope.

    • Up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism, business or family visits.
    • No policy is inferred for the aggregate French West Indies destination.
    • Excludes work, residence, transit, diplomatic, official/service and special-document routes.

  3. Current official routeVisa-free

EU, EEA, Swiss and French ordinary passports: visa-free short visits

Current France-Visas guidance expressly exempts EU, EEA and Swiss nationals from overseas-territory visas. FR is represented as visa_free rather than citizenship because the destinations are territorial catalog codes PF and NC.

    • Ordinary passport held as a citizen of the listed EU, EEA or Swiss state; up to 90 days.
    • This records only the short visitor visa result, not residence, employment, family-member residence cards, identity-document alternatives, transit, special passports or final admission.
    • French Polynesia and New Caledonia are outside Schengen and remain separately scoped destinations.
    31 passport nationalities covered

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland

  4. Current official routeVisa-free

Named Annex II ordinary passports: visa-free short visits

The current French Polynesia and New Caledonia Annex II schedules expressly exempt these passport nationalities without a biometric, residence, visa, cruise, work or special-document qualifier.

    • For a short visitor stay of up to three months in each six-month period.
    • GB records the ordinary United Kingdom baseline; separate named British non-British-Citizen document statuses are not mapped to the catalog.
    • The schedules separately mention New Zealand passport holders from Cook Islands, Niue and Tokelau; that document condition is not mapped to CK or NU catalog codes.
    47 passport nationalities covered

Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, The Bahamas, Barbados, Bolivia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica, El Salvador, United Arab Emirates, Fiji, Grenada, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Kiribati, Malaysia, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Monaco, Nauru, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Palau Islands, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, United Kingdom, St. Kitts and Nevis, San Marino, Vatican City, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Seychelles, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uruguay, Micronesia

  5. Current official routeVisa-free

Named ordinary passports: visitor visa-free treatment with work exception

The current schedules expressly waive visas for ordinary visitor travel by these nationalities, with a narrow listed exception for certain paid activities lacking the required work authorisation.

    • Short tourism or other non-remunerated visitor entry up to three months per six-month period.
    • Excludes the schedule's paid-activity/work-authorisation exception, residence, transit, diplomatic, service and special-document routes.
    • The U.S. extension for American Samoa and Guam applies only when the traveler holds a U.S. passport; it is not mapped to AS or GU catalog codes.
    8 passport nationalities covered

Australia, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Singapore, United States, Venezuela

  6. Current official routeVisa-free

Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR passports: visa-free short visits

Both current schedules separately name the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR passport documents; they do not grant the same rule to a PRC ordinary passport.

    • Only a Hong Kong SAR or Macao SAR passport respectively; up to three months in each six-month period.
    • Excludes PRC passport, Taiwan identity-number, residence-permit, cruise, transit, work, diplomatic, service and special-document routes.
    2 passport nationalities covered

Hong Kong (SAR China), Macao (SAR China)

  7. Current official routeVisa required

Other ordinary passports: territory-specific advance visa required

For the remaining catalog ordinary passports, the two current orders require a valid territory-specific visa unless the traveler qualifies for a separately specified exemption. The required visa is a physical vignette, so it is normalized as advance visa rather than eVisa.

    • Short visitor baseline only. A Schengen visa alone is insufficient; the visa must be valid for the requested overseas territory.
    • Residence permits, long-stay visas, French multi-entry visas, cruise conditions, transit, diplomatic, service, official and other special-document exemptions remain conditional and are not normalized as nationality-wide visitor access.
    • For Vanuatu, the listed ordinary-passport waiver is limited to passports issued before 25 May 2015; the current entry order also requires a travel document issued less than ten years earlier, so it cannot support a current ordinary-passport waiver.
    • No eVisa or ETA is inferred from France-Visas' online application workflow.

Taiwan ordinary passports: named visa-free short visits

Taiwan MOFA BOCA's current outbound schedule places these destinations in its visa-free category for Taiwanese travellers.

    • This is the ordinary Taiwanese-passport short-visitor baseline recorded in BOCA's current visa-free schedule; destination rules, stay limits and entry conditions can change.
    • It excludes work, residence, transit-only facilities, emergency or other non-ordinary travel documents, carrier controls and individual final-admission decisions.
