Official evidence timeline

One group agreement or destination policy can support many passport relationships. Dates are recorded only when an official source establishes them.

  1. Current official routeCitizenship

Qatari nationals: outside foreign visitor scope

The foreign visitor visa framework does not establish entry treatment for Qatari passport holders.

    • This does not determine dual-national, resident, departure, identity-document or individual admission treatment.

    Qatar

  2. Current official routeVisa-free

    GCC citizens: no visa required

Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and UAE nationals may visit Qatar without a visa on the current Hayya/Qatar Tourism guidance.

    • The guidance says GCC nationals need a passport or GCC ID. This policy is nationality-based and does not establish the separate GCC-resident or accompanying-person Hayya routes for other passports.
    5 passport nationalities covered

Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates

  3. Current official routeVisa on arrival

Named ordinary passports: arrival-issued visitor waiver or visa

The current Qatar Tourism passport wizard places these nationalities in arrival-entry paths. Although Qatar Tourism now calls the former free visa-on-arrival route “visa-free”, MOI describes on-arrival visas and passport stickers; this operational category is normalized as visa_on_arrival.

    • Passport-level routes vary: some are free arrival waivers, while IR, MU, ME, TW, PK, TH and UA are displayed with paid and/or Discover Qatar hotel-reservation arrival routes. Hayya A1/A2/A3 may be an advance alternative where the wizard says so; optional online processing does not replace an available arrival status.
    • Current MOI guidance requires a passport valid at least three months, onward/return ticket and compulsory health insurance for on-arrival visitors; particular routes also require a hotel booking, Discover Qatar booking, cash/card or fees. Check the live selector for the exact passport route and duration.
    • The older MOI 90-day schedule publishes six-month passport validity, onward ticket and a passport sticker; its duration lists do not exactly match the current Qatar Tourism selector. Treat the individual live selector and border decision as controlling.
    • A residence in GCC, or residence/valid visa in Schengen, UK, US, Australia, New Zealand or Canada, can create distinct document-conditioned A2/A3 routes. It is not a nationality-wide rule. Transit, Qatar-Oman joint visas, employment, residence, diplomatic/official, temporary travel documents and special cases are separate.

  4. Current official routeeVisa

Other passport codes listed by the visa wizard: advance Hayya eVisa

For these ordinary-passport codes, the current Qatar Tourism selector directs an A1 Entry Visa through Hayya rather than an arrival route. It is normalized as evisa.

    • Apply for the A1 Entry Visa through Hayya before travel; the selector states that a hotel reservation is required during application and visa fee is payable after approval.
    • The eVisa route is for tourism and remains subject to passport, accommodation, insurance, funds, health, security and admission requirements. It does not create work, residence, transit, diplomatic/official or special-document rights.

  5. Current official routeeVisa

Previously unmapped ordinary passports: Hayya Tourist Visa (A1)

The current Hayya country eligibility records expose the Tourist Visa (A1) for these ordinary-passport nationalities. It is an advance electronic tourist visa issued in the Hayya app or by email.

    • Apply for Tourist Visa (A1) through Hayya before travel. It is single-entry, non-refundable and non-transferable; the current country records state a QAR 100 fee payable upon final approval, subject to any stated exemption.
    • The Hayya steps require the selected visa, a passport and personal photograph, personal-information validation, accommodation confirmation, and payment; the issued eVisa is received in Hayya or by email.
    • The route is for tourism or leisure and remains subject to its passport, accommodation, insurance, funds, health, security, purpose and final-admission requirements. It does not establish work, residence, transit, diplomatic, official, temporary-document or special-case treatment.
    • For XK, Hayya's current country list calls its UN record Kosovo and separately labels XK as Eswatini. This policy maps only the explicitly named Kosovo record to the project's XK passport code.
