Official evidence timeline

One group agreement or destination policy can support many passport relationships. Dates are recorded only when an official source establishes them.

  1. Current official routeVisa-free

EU, EEA and Swiss ordinary passports: visa-free overseas short stays

French central guidance expressly exempts EU, EEA and Swiss citizens. This records foreign ordinary-passport catalog mappings only, not French citizenship.

    • Up to 90 days; each overseas territory remains outside Schengen and has its own visa order.
    • A Schengen visa alone does not authorize overseas entry.
    • Excludes residence, work, transit, long-stay, diplomatic, official/service and special-document routes.
    30 passport nationalities covered

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland

Colombian ordinary passports: five named territories visa-free

France-Visas names the five destinations in the Colombian exemption. French West Indies is excluded because it is an aggregate catalog label, not the page's territorial scope.

    • Up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism, business or family visits.
    • No policy is inferred for the aggregate French West Indies destination.
    • Excludes work, residence, transit, diplomatic, official/service and special-document routes.

  3. Current official routeVisa-free

EU, EEA, Swiss and French ordinary passports: visa-free short visits

France-Visas and the Interior Ministry directly exempt EU, EEA and Swiss citizens from overseas visas. FR is visa_free, not citizenship: GF, FW, YT and RE are territorial destination codes rather than France itself.

    • Ordinary passport held as a citizen of the listed EU, EEA or Swiss state, for a visitor stay up to 90 days.
    • This does not normalize residence, work, family-member residence cards, identity-document alternatives, transit, special passports or final admission.
    • All four catalog destinations are outside Schengen; the classification follows free-movement rights rather than a Schengen visa.
    31 passport nationalities covered

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland

Named Réunion ordinary passports: visa-free visitor stays

The current DROM Annex II schedule directly waives the Réunion visitor visa for this ordinary-passport cohort. The listed work exceptions and document-qualified routes are retained as conditions.

    • Short visitor stay up to 90 days in 180 days. The work-authorisation exceptions for Australia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Singapore, the United States and Venezuela do not apply to ordinary tourism or family visits.
    • Hong Kong and Macao are SAR passport entries only, not a PRC ordinary-passport rule.
    • The schedule's passport-specific, French multi-entry-visa, residence-permit, cruise, transit, diplomatic, service, special-document and final-admission rules remain separate.
    52 passport nationalities covered

Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Bolivia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Hong Kong (SAR China), Macao (SAR China), Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, United Arab Emirates, United States, Grenada, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Kiribati, Malaysia, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Mexico, Micronesia, Monaco, Nauru, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Palau Islands, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, United Kingdom, St. Kitts and Nevis, San Marino, Vatican City, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Seychelles, Singapore, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uruguay, Venezuela

Brazilian, South African, Mozambican, Dominican and Saint Lucian ordinary passports: visa-free Réunion visitor stays

The DROM Annex II directly distinguishes Réunion from French Guiana and grants the listed ordinary-passport visitor waivers.

    • Short visitor stay up to 90 days in 180 days. The ordinary visitor classification excludes the schedule's paid-activity/work-authorisation exception for Brazil.
    • For Dominica and Saint Lucia, Réunion has the full short-stay waiver; French Guiana has only the separate 15-day waiver.
    • No result is inferred for Mayotte or the French West Indies aggregate from this Réunion-specific material.
    5 passport nationalities covered

Brazil, South Africa, Mozambique, Dominica, St. Lucia

  6. Current official routeVisa required

Other Réunion ordinary passports: advance territory visa required

The current DROM order requires a valid territory-specific visa unless an Annex II nationality exemption applies. This covers the ordinary-passport baseline after direct waivers and genuinely unresolved biometric rows are removed.

    • A valid visa must cover Réunion; a Schengen visa alone does not authorize the territory. France-Visas' online workflow is application filing, not eVisa issuance.
    • French multi-entry-visa, residence-permit, long-stay visa, agency package, cruise, transit, crew, special/diplomatic/service passport and individual-admission exceptions remain conditional and do not change this ordinary-passport baseline.
    • Georgia's former Annex II exemption was removed effective June 2025. Vanuatu's waiver is restricted to pre-25-May-2015 ordinary passports, so it cannot establish a current unqualified ordinary-passport exemption.

Taiwan ordinary passports: named visa-free short visits

Taiwan MOFA BOCA's current outbound schedule places these destinations in its visa-free category for Taiwanese travellers.

    • This is the ordinary Taiwanese-passport short-visitor baseline recorded in BOCA's current visa-free schedule; destination rules, stay limits and entry conditions can change.
    • It excludes work, residence, transit-only facilities, emergency or other non-ordinary travel documents, carrier controls and individual final-admission decisions.
