Official evidence timeline

One group agreement or destination policy can support many passport relationships. Dates are recorded only when an official source establishes them.

  1. Current official routeCitizenship

    Russian ordinary passport: citizen entry

A Russian national using an ordinary Russian passport is classified as citizenship rather than as a foreign visitor-visa relationship.

    • Article 27(2) establishes a Russian citizen's right to return freely. This classification is limited to Russian citizenship and does not establish a rule for dual nationals travelling as foreign citizens or for non-national travel documents.

  2. Current official routeVisa-free

Russia: ordinary passports visa-free up to 90 days

The current MFA country table gives these ordinary-passport nationalities a visa-free short-visitor baseline of up to 90 days.

    • The country table's stated 90-day ordinary-passport or all-passport waiver controls; passport validity, migration registration, purpose, admission and any shorter treaty condition remain applicable.
    • This is not a work, residence, diplomatic, service, crew, APEC-card, local-border or special-document classification.

  3. Current official routeVisa-free

Russia: ordinary passports visa-free where the current MFA table states no duration

The current MFA country table expressly says these nationalities are visa-free for all passport types but does not state a nationality-specific duration in the displayed entry.

    • Do not infer an unlimited visitor stay from the table's silence on duration; immigration, registration, document and final-admission rules remain applicable.
    • The stated all-passport waivers may also permit specified internal identity documents, but this policy covers the ordinary passport relationship only.
    10 passport nationalities covered

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan

  4. Current official routeVisa-free

Russia: ordinary passports visa-free up to 30 days

The current MFA table gives these ordinary passports a short visa-free baseline of up to 30 days.

    • Bosnia and Herzegovina is limited to 30 days in 60; the other displayed ordinary-passport waivers state up to 30 days.
    • This excludes diplomatic, service, crew, APEC-card, invitation, organized-tour and other special routes.
    9 passport nationalities covered

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Jordan, Laos, Mongolia, Thailand, Montenegro, Palau Islands, Seychelles

  5. Current official routeVisa-free

Russia: ordinary passports visa-free up to 60 days

The current MFA table gives Dominican Republic, Republic of Korea, Mauritius, Samoa and Cabo Verde ordinary passports a visa-free stay of up to 60 days.

    • This is the ordinary-passport visitor baseline only; it excludes the separately listed diplomatic, service, accredited-staff and other document routes.
    5 passport nationalities covered

Dominican Republic, South Korea, Mauritius, Samoa, Cape Verde Islands

  6. Current official routeVisa-free

Russia: Brunei and Nauru ordinary passports visa-free up to 14 days

The current MFA table records a 14-day visa-free short-stay rule for Brunei and Nauru.

    • This is a short visitor baseline; purpose, passport, registration and final border-admission rules remain separate.
    2 passport nationalities covered

  7. Current official routeVisa-free

Russia: Chinese ordinary passports temporarily visa-free

The MFA table grants Chinese ordinary passports visa-free entry for up to 30 days only through 14 September 2026.

    • This is a temporary ordinary-passport waiver. The table separately lists diplomatic/service treatment, organized-tour groups, crews and APEC-card routes.
    • Recheck after 14 September 2026; the unified e-visa route is separately available.
    1 passport nationalities covered

    China

  8. Current official routeVisa-free

Russia: Hong Kong and Macao permanent residents with the stated SAR passports visa-free

The MFA table limits the Hong Kong and Macao passport waivers to permanent residents holding the respective valid SAR passport.

    • Hong Kong is up to 14 days and Macao up to 30 days, each only for a permanent resident holding the matching valid SAR passport.
    • This does not infer eligibility for another Chinese, British, Portuguese, residence or travel-document category.
    2 passport nationalities covered

Hong Kong (SAR China), Macao (SAR China)

  9. Current official routeVisa-free

Russia: Serbian biometric ordinary passports visa-free up to 30 days

The MFA table makes the Serbian ordinary-passport waiver conditional on a biometric passport and limits it to 30 days.

    • Only an ordinary biometric Serbian passport is covered, for up to 30 days; diplomatic and service rules are separate.
    1 passport nationalities covered

    Serbia

  10. Current official routeVisa-free

Russia: Omani ordinary passports visa-free with annual cap

The MFA table gives Omani ordinary passports visa-free entry up to 30 days per visit, capped at 90 days in a calendar year.

    • The 30-day-per-visit and 90-day-per-calendar-year limits apply. The e-visa is an alternative route, not an extension of the visa-free allowance.
    1 passport nationalities covered

    Oman

  11. Current official routeVisa-free

Russia: Saudi ordinary passports visa-free with annual cap

The MFA table grants Saudi Arabian ordinary passports visa-free entry for up to 90 days in a calendar year.

    • The 90-days-per-calendar-year cap applies. The unified e-visa remains an alternative, more restrictive route.

    Saudi Arabia

  12. Current official routeVisa-free

Russia: Myanmar ordinary passports visa-free with annual cap

The current MFA country table grants Myanmar ordinary passports visa-free entry up to 30 days per visit, with a 90-day calendar-year cap.

    • The 30-day-per-visit and 90-day-per-calendar-year limits apply. The live unified-eVisa portal still lists Myanmar, so this current table-controlled visa-free baseline needs monitoring.
    1 passport nationalities covered

    Myanmar

  13. Current official routeeVisa

Russia: named ordinary passports eligible for the unified electronic visa

The current MFA country table identifies this cohort as eligible for a unified e-visa. The portal confirms an issued unified e-visa is an actual single-entry electronic visa, not merely an online application or authorization.

    • Apply no earlier than 86 and no later than 4 days before entry using a machine-readable national passport issued by the nationality state and valid at least six months from application; each child needs a separate e-visa.
    • It is single entry, valid 120 days from issue, with a stay of no more than 30 calendar days, through only approved border crossing points. Arrival and departure days both count.
    • Visitor purposes are private/business visits, tourism, and the stated scientific, cultural, socio-political, economic or sporting events. Other purposes require a regular visa.
    • Movement is barred to territories, organisations and facilities requiring a special permit. Insurance is required unless reciprocity exempts the nationality; approval and admission remain discretionary.

  14. Current official routeVisa required

Russia: other modelled ordinary foreign passports require a regular visa

For these nationalities, the current MFA country table states either visas for all passports or only a non-ordinary waiver and does not provide the unified e-visa. The MFA's general rule therefore requires a regular visa.

    • This is the ordinary foreign-passport short-visitor baseline. Diplomatic, official, service, special, crew, accredited-staff, APEC-card, group-tour, invitation, local-border and other stated exceptions are not passport-wide access.
    • A regular visa is obtained through a Russian diplomatic mission or consular post at the person's place of permanent residence. Visa type, invitation, validity, document recognition, purpose, registration and admission requirements remain case-specific.
