One group agreement or destination policy can support many passport relationships. Dates are recorded only when an official source establishes them.

  1. – Visa-free

    Chinese ordinary passports: Russian visa waiver extended through 2027

    Decree 499 extends the ordinary Chinese passport waiver under Decree 872 through 31 December 2027 inclusive; qualifying visits remain limited to 30 days.

    • For an ordinary PRC passport and private, business or tourist visits, the listed scientific, cultural, public-political, economic or sporting events, or transit.
    • The decree excludes employment, including journalism, education, residence, and the specified international road-transport drivers, crew, freight forwarders and accompanying interpreters.
    • Russian law continues to govern the visitor's stay. This policy does not establish admission on Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, diplomatic, service or other special documents.
    • The amendment takes effect on 20 July 2026; this is an extension date, not the original waiver's start date. The MFA summary's older deadline is superseded by Decree 499. Recheck arrangements after 31 December 2027.

    Russian ordinary passport: citizen entry

    A Russian national using an ordinary Russian passport is classified as citizenship rather than as a foreign visitor-visa relationship.

    • Article 27(2) establishes a Russian citizen's right to return freely. This classification is limited to Russian citizenship and does not establish a rule for dual nationals travelling as foreign citizens or for non-national travel documents.

    The current MFA country table expressly says these nationalities are visa-free for all passport types but does not state a nationality-specific duration in the displayed entry.

    • Do not infer an unlimited visitor stay from the table's silence on duration; immigration, registration, document and final-admission rules remain applicable.
    • The stated all-passport waivers may also permit specified internal identity documents, but this policy covers the ordinary passport relationship only.

    The MFA table grants Chinese ordinary passports visa-free entry for up to 30 days only through 14 September 2026.

    • This is a temporary ordinary-passport waiver. The table separately lists diplomatic/service treatment, organized-tour groups, crews and APEC-card routes.
    • Recheck after 14 September 2026; the unified e-visa route is separately available.

    Russia: named ordinary passports eligible for the unified electronic visa

    The current MFA country table identifies this cohort as eligible for a unified e-visa. The portal confirms an issued unified e-visa is an actual single-entry electronic visa, not merely an online application or authorization.

    • Apply no earlier than 86 and no later than 4 days before entry using a machine-readable national passport issued by the nationality state and valid at least six months from application; each child needs a separate e-visa.
    • It is single entry, valid 120 days from issue, with a stay of no more than 30 calendar days, through only approved border crossing points. Arrival and departure days both count.
    • Visitor purposes are private/business visits, tourism, and the stated scientific, cultural, socio-political, economic or sporting events. Other purposes require a regular visa.
    • Movement is barred to territories, organisations and facilities requiring a special permit. Insurance is required unless reciprocity exempts the nationality; approval and admission remain discretionary.

    For these nationalities, the current MFA country table states either visas for all passports or only a non-ordinary waiver and does not provide the unified e-visa. The MFA's general rule therefore requires a regular visa.

    • This is the ordinary foreign-passport short-visitor baseline. Diplomatic, official, service, special, crew, accredited-staff, APEC-card, group-tour, invitation, local-border and other stated exceptions are not passport-wide access.
    • A regular visa is obtained through a Russian diplomatic mission or consular post at the person's place of permanent residence. Visa type, invitation, validity, document recognition, purpose, registration and admission requirements remain case-specific.

    Barbadian ordinary passports: Russian unified eVisa

    Barbadian ordinary-passport visitors are legally eligible for Russia's single-entry unified electronic visa for qualifying short visits.

    • Government Order 3583-r added Barbados to the unified-eVisa nationality list. The current MFA entry table and current MFA country list both repeat the eVisa route.
    • The visa is single-entry, valid 120 days from issue and permits no more than 30 days from entry for the listed visitor purposes through approved border checkpoints.
    • Apply between 86 and 4 days before entry using a machine-readable national passport valid at least six months from application; insurance, fee and final admission requirements remain applicable.
    • Operational warning: on 26 August 2026 the live application's embedded nationality selector omitted Barbados despite the controlling order and two MFA schedules. Confirm that the portal accepts Barbados before making non-refundable arrangements.
