St Vincent: adult citizenship routes
Adult citizenship applications require route-specific eligibility and supporting evidence. The verified seven-year constitutional registration route concerns Commonwealth citizens; the complete ordinary naturalisation rules were not established from an accessible national statute in this collection.
Seven years is a scoped registration rule
Constitution section 93(2)(b) permits registration of Commonwealth citizens ordinarily resident for seven years immediately before application. Statutory refusal on defence, public-safety or public-order grounds remains possible; this is not the ordinary naturalisation rule for every nationality.
Ordinary naturalisation clock unresolved
The Prime Minister's FAQ mentions seven consecutive years of temporary residence or permanent-resident status for registration, without resolving the applicant cohorts. The full ordinary naturalisation clock, qualifying status and absence limits therefore remain unestablished here.
Identity, references and translations
The citizenship checklist requests the application and reference page, certified photograph, birth certificate and passport biographical page, with spouse and marriage documents where applicable. Documents not in English require an official translation; originals are returned.
Medical and police evidence
The checklist requires the applicant's medical certificate and a police certificate from the country most recently resided in for more than six months before arriving in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Additional applicable documents may be requested.
Submission is not approval
The office permits submission by mail, courier or a representative without being physically present when filing. Applications require investigation. Remote submission does not establish an exemption from the route's residence requirements or a guaranteed decision date.
Language and civic standard unresolved
The collected official checklist and general guidance do not establish the ordinary route's language standard, testing procedure or exemptions. No CEFR level or exemption from testing is asserted.
Renunciation is a separate enquiry
The office describes an application to renounce Vincentian citizenship, supported by the current passport and birth-certificate copy. That procedure does not establish whether an ordinary naturalisation applicant must renounce another nationality or can retain it; those questions remain unresolved here.
Scope and limitations
- The full current Citizenship Act was not obtained from an accessible national primary source. Constitutional Commonwealth registration and the office's general registration FAQ must not be flattened into a universal naturalisation clock.
- The Constitution source is the government's copy marked updated in 2005. The citizenship checklist is undated; conflicting displayed fees are omitted. Descent, marriage and investment routes are outside this collection.
Next review due . An official update can change these requirements sooner.
