How this access rule is documented

  1. Visa-free

Nicaragua and Solomon Islands: Hong Kong visitor waiver

Ordinary Nicaraguan and Solomon Islands passport holders may visit Hong Kong visa-free for up to 30 days from 26 August 2026. The current destination visitor schedule and the announcement's explicit inbound provision agree on the scope and permitted stay.

    • This is the ordinary nationality-based visitor route, not a diplomatic-passport, resident-document or direct-airside-transit exception.
    • The visa-free visit must not exceed 30 days. A person intending to stay longer than the permitted visa-free period must obtain the appropriate visa or entry permit before travelling.
    • Visitors must have adequate funds for their stay without working and onward or return tickets, except when in transit to Chinese Mainland or the Macao Special Administrative Region.
    • Visitor status does not permit paid or unpaid employment, establishing or joining a business, or entering a school as a student. Work, study, business establishment and residence require the appropriate permission unless a separate Part I entitlement applies.
    • Meeting the stated conditions does not guarantee admission; the immigration authority retains its power to refuse permission to land.
  2. Through Visa required

Hong Kong lists nationalities that require a visit visa (historical: NI / SB)

The Immigration Department's August 2026 schedule requires the listed ordinary-passport visitors to obtain a visa or entry permit before travel.

    • Some diplomatic and official passport holders have different exemptions; this policy represents ordinary-passport access.
    • Direct airside transit exceptions vary by nationality and do not establish permission to enter Hong Kong.
    • Applications remain subject to individual assessment and normal immigration requirements.
