    Listed document-qualified passports require an eTA for air travel

    These nationality codes qualify for an eTA only with the passport or travel-document type specified by Canada.

    • GB requires British citizen status; HK requires an HKSAR passport; IL requires a national Israeli passport.
    • RO requires an electronic passport; TW requires an ordinary foreign-affairs passport containing a personal identification number.
    • VA requires a passport or travel document issued by Vatican City State.
    • The ordinary eTA air, land and sea conditions also apply.

How to apply

  1. Confirm that the passport or British-status condition in Canada's table is met.
  2. Complete the online eTA form using that passport or travel document.
  3. Travel by air with the same document linked to the approved eTA.
