About the Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) passport
The Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) passport is grouped with Asia in this index. It ranks #38 globally and #8 among 32 Asia passports, with a mobility score of 141.
Its current access profile includes 88 visa-free destinations,35 visas on arrival, and 18 destinations using an ETA. The detailed list below separates these from eVisas, traditional visas, and any officially documented entry restrictions.
Taiwan's income-tax residence rules combine domicile and presence, while local-source income and overseas-income basic tax follow different rules. Foreign payment is not enough to make work done in Taiwan foreign-source.
Entry rules can change without notice. Treat this as a comparison tool and verify official requirements before travel.
