Official evidence timeline

One group agreement or destination policy can support many passport relationships. Dates are recorded only when an official source establishes them.

    Mozambique: longstanding all-passport visa-exemption partners

Both the live immigration portal and the Foreign Ministry identify these nationalities as exempt from a visa for qualifying short visits.

    • The live portal permits the stated ordinary-passport tourist or business stay without an eTA or eVisa: 90 days for Botswana and Tanzania, and 30 days for the other listed nationalities.
    • The Foreign Ministry describes these as all-passport bilateral visa-suppression agreements.
    • Ordinary-passport short tourism or business visits only; work, residence, study, crew, transit, diplomatic, official, service, refugee, emergency and other special-document cases are outside this policy.
    • Admission remains subject to passport validity, travel-purpose, supporting-document, health, security and border-control requirements; an approval or exemption does not guarantee entry.

Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius, South Africa, eSwatini, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Mozambique: additional current ordinary-passport visa exemptions

The live immigration portal lists these ordinary or all-passport nationalities as visa-exempt for qualifying short tourist or business visits.

    • The live portal lists 30 days for Angola, Cabo Verde, Lesotho, Namibia, São Tomé and Príncipe, Seychelles and Uganda, and 90 days for Kenya and Rwanda.
    • The Foreign Ministry's separate current entry-visas page still publishes only eight longstanding all-passport agreements and omits this expanded cohort. The live National Immigration Service eligibility table is treated as the current operational rule, but this official-source discrepancy warrants rechecking.

Angola, Cape Verde Islands, Kenya, Lesotho, Namibia, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Seychelles, Uganda

  3. Current official routeETA

    Mozambique: eTA required before travel

The live immigration portal requires these nationalities to obtain an electronic travel authorisation before qualifying short tourist or business travel.

    • The eTA permits up to 30 days for tourist or business purposes and applies to all passport types in the published table; this policy models the ordinary-passport component.
    • The applicant must apply online, pay the fee and carry the approved preliminary eTA PDF for boarding and arrival.
    • An eVisa is needed instead if the permitted ETA duration or purpose does not cover the trip.

  4. Current official routeeVisa

    Mozambique: advance electronic visa route

The live immigration portal includes these ordinary-passport nationalities in Mozambique's electronic-visa scheme for qualifying visits.

    • The tourist eVisa covers tourism, holidays or vacations of 90 days or less; other published electronic-visa purposes have their own requirements.
    • The applicant must apply and pay online before travel, then carry the approved preliminary eVisa PDF for boarding and arrival.
    • The physical visa may be finalized at the border, but prior electronic approval is mandatory, so this is normalized as eVisa rather than visa on arrival.

  5. Current official routeVisa required

Mozambique: embassy visa required before travel

The live immigration portal says these nationalities cannot use its eVisa service and must request a visa from the nearest embassy.

    • The traveller must obtain the appropriate visa through a Mozambique embassy before travel; nationality alone does not establish an electronic or arrival route.
