    Sammarinese ordinary passport: citizenship

    A Sammarinese national travelling on a Sammarinese ordinary passport is classified as citizenship rather than as a foreign visitor-visa relationship.

    • The current passport-service charter limits the holder to a Sammarinese citizen. This is a citizenship classification, not a foreign-visitor visa rule.
    • It does not define entry by a dual national presenting another passport, residence, work, transit, diplomatic, official, service or special-document treatment.

    San Marino has no separate entry visa for a visitor who is compliant with Schengen access through Italy. Union citizens do not need an entry visa for that access leg.

    Visa-exempt Schengen-access ordinary passports: visa-free visitor access

    A visitor with these qualifying passports is compliant with the Italian Schengen access rule and may visit San Marino without a separate San Marino entry visa.

    • San Marino requires the necessary Schengen entry and transit authorisations before departure; a stay exceeding 30 days requires a stay permit or residence.
    • Biometric passport is required for AL, BA, GE, MK, MD, ME, RS, UA and XK. The Italian MFA schedule excludes Serbian Coordination Directorate passports; Taiwan requires the identity-card number; HK and MO require their named SAR passports.
    • CH, IS, LI and NO follow equivalent free-movement treatment for the Italian access leg; this does not make San Marino part of Schengen.
    • ETIAS is not operating on the research date. Schengen residence-permit and family-status routes are document-conditioned exceptions outside this passport-code baseline, as are special passport and refugee-document rules.

    Schengen-visa-required ordinary passports: visitor access via Italy

    These ordinary passports require the Italian/Schengen visa needed for access through Italy; San Marino does not issue a separate entry visa.

    • This is the advance Schengen visa required for entry through Italy, not a separate San Marino visa. The Italian MFA describes a visa sticker affixed to the passport or other travel document; no eVisa status is established.
    • San Marino requires the necessary Schengen authorisation before departure; a local stay exceeding 30 days requires a stay permit or residence.
    • Italian entry conditions separately require a valid travel document, purpose and means evidence, a visa where prescribed, and no refusal/security ground. A Schengen residence permit holder has a separately stated 90-in-180 visa exemption; that document-conditioned route does not change this ordinary-passport nationality baseline.
    • Minor, diplomatic/official/service, refugee/stateless, residence, work, transit and other special-document exceptions are not flattened into this policy.

    Nauru ordinary passport: Schengen visa required pending EU waiver

    Nauru's Annex II exemption is conditional on entry into force of an EU waiver agreement. The current Council register says visa-free travel applies only once Nauru and the EU conclude that agreement, so the route through Italy remains visa required.

    • This is the Schengen visa needed for Italian entry before visiting San Marino; a local stay exceeding 30 days requires a stay permit or residence.
    • Do not classify Nauru as visa-free until an official source confirms the EU–Nauru waiver agreement is concluded and in force.
    • No San Marino eVisa, ETA or visa-on-arrival route is established.
